چکیده
Correction After the publication of this abstract [1], we found some mistakes in the text. In details: Methods section: the correct sentence is “We modified these protocol improving screening criteria to all patients with petrous bone fracture, even without carotid canal involvement”. Results section: the correct sentence is “According to our proposed modified Memphis criteria, 53 patients (instead of the 45 if using original Memphis criteria) showed risk factors for BCVI (19.9%of the total of BMT; 32.7% of TBI), and 6 of them had carotid injury (2.2% of all BMT; 11.3% of patient with risk factors)”. We regret any inconvenience that this inaccuracy may have caused.

Introduction: Penetrating trauma to anterior neck can induce cerebral ischemia due to carotid artery injury. Brain ischemia also can present after surgical carotid repairs. Early diagnosis and suitable treatment modality prevent from permanent neurologic deficit post operatively. Case Report: A 30 years old man with stab wound to zone two left side of neck underwent exploration and penrose i...
متن کاملVertebral artery injury after acute cervical spine trauma: rate of occurrence as detected by MR angiography and assessment of clinical consequences.
OBJECTIVE The purposes of this study were to assess prospectively the frequency of vertebral artery injuries after major acute cervical spine trauma as determined by MR angiography and to assess the clinical consequences of these injuries. SUBJECTS AND METHODS During a 6-month period, 37 patients who had major acute nonpenetrating cervical spine trauma were examined with MR imaging, usually w...
متن کاملPosterior Vertebral Injury; Is This a Burst Fracture or a Flexion-Distraction Injury?
In thoracolumbar spinal fractures with posterior column injury for applying proper management, it is important to distinguish a flexion-distraction injury (FDI) from a three column burst fracture (BF) as in clinical examination, both may have a similar significant tenderness on direct spinal palpation. Careful attention to the comprehensive clinical examination and detailed imaging features are...
متن کاملScreening for blunt cerebrovascular injuries is cost-effective.
BACKGROUND Recent reports have argued that screening for blunt carotid injury is futile and have called for a cost analysis. Our data previously supported screening asymptomatic trauma patients for blunt cerebrovascular injury (BCVI) to prevent associated neurologic sequelae. Our hypothesis is that aggressive angiographic screening for BCVI based on a patient's injury pattern and symptoms allow...
متن کاملFatal case of cervical blunt vascular injury with cervical vertebral fracture: a case report
Blunt cerebrovascular injury (BCVI) is usually caused by neck trauma that predominantly occurs in high-impact injuries. BCVI may occur due to damage to both the vertebral and carotid arteries, and may be fatal in the absence of appropriate treatment and early diagnosis. Here, we describe a case of cerebral infarction caused by a combination of a lower cervical spinal fracture and traumatic inju...
